Our art club first annual meeting was held on
24th and 25th September 2011 at the Redlands Guest House, Solihull

The 2012  annual meeting is being held at the Redlands on 4th and 5th August

One of the main factors in today's times when choosing a location has to be the cost,
and at the Redlands I can keep this years event costs the same as last year.
2 days art meeting including mid day lunch  £130.00
B & B single at £55.00 per night for those that require it.
Evening meals are not included in the price.
At 2011's meeting we went to a local pub for an evening meal.
You would have to bring your own art equipment for this event (Same as last year)

If you are interested in attending then please e-mail me a.s.a.p.
as numbers will be restricted to nine people attending.
When e-mailing please state..........
the dates that you want to come on,
Any B & B requirements.

The idea of the 2 days was to meet and get to know the other club members whilst at the same
time having fun painting and improving  painting skills and I think that judging by your e-mails I can speak for all
attending by saying that we achieved our objectives with flying colours last year.

I was amazed how quickly we all got on together and it seemed right from the start that it was an old
friends reunion rather than people meeting for the first time.

I always know when a group is bonding well due to the amount of jovial banter and insults flying around in the first
hour or two.  Someone made a comment towards the end of the course that this was pleasure for them but they
understood that this was work for me.  I suppose that they were right in as much as I make a living out of it, but when
in great company, eating great food, and doing one of the things I love to do, I must admit it doesn't feel like work
and I wouldn't want to do anything else.

So, thank you all for making my job a great one.

Last year I arrived at the Redlands at about 8a.m. on day one and some of the group who had stayed
B & B the night before were already experiencing the breakfasts / food served at this location
by our  wonderful hosts Yvonne and Phil Whiteman.
Note for those that did not come to the event..........Do not go to the Redlands if you are on a diet
as the food is fantastic and you get large servings.

Enjoying getting to know you.

Sharing techniques,

(and masking fluid etc.)

Seeing different colours, brushes

and styles used by other club members.

Throughout the two days I supplied drawings for each club members to work from just as we do each month on-line,
and some managed to paint up to 3 paintings over the 2 days.
All were then given another picture challenge to take home and paint over the coming months.
I will set up another page soon for anyone wanting to show their completed pictures.

The whole time wasn't spent painting........there was eating,  taking breaks in the garden, drinking cups of tea and coffee, laughing, talking, more eating..................I think you get the idea.

Our host at the Redlands, Yvonne kept us topped up with drinks throughout the 2 days and
Phil transported us to and from a local Inn for our evening meal,
so that we could also have a drink without driving.

Were you at this great  painting and social event !
Will you be at the next one in 2012 !!
