Notes from artist
Hi roger, hope you had a good Christmas.
Snowmen really weren't my thing.
Took ages before anything came to mind.
Hope this comes out alright,
no white paint anywhere.
Regards Lynne.

Hi Roger, and to all artists out there,
I hope your Christmas
and New Year Celebrations were as good as mine.
I have had little or no time to even think of picking up a
brush or pencil for weeks.
I am sorry that my picture for December
is so late but Pam
(wife) and I have just got back home today having been away
with friends since the day after boxing day. Now what day
is it today, I have totally lost track of days and time.
So it's back to work, and make time to
get my paints out
again. All my best wishes to you and your families
for a healthy prosperous 2012
Paul

Title:- Snow Birds
Really enjoyed this one.
Some of the snow birds are a bit geeky -
I reckon they've melted a little bit. Buildings behind are a bit of
a cheat but aimed to get all the detail in
the foreground (yeah, right!). Happy with the robin,
though, my first real attempt at a bird!
No white gouache in sight, either!
Happy Christmas, One and All!

Title:- ?
Can't decide whether to call this one
"That's snow dog!" or, simply, "Sit!"
Happy New Year, Fellow Painters!

Title :- Snowfall.
Fun to paint, used sprayed masking fluid and rock
salt for the sky.
Made the sky at night so that the
snow people stood out better.
Regards,
Geoff..

Title :-
Meltdown.
Did a bit of fiddling to make the melting man
stand
out. Porch was a pain but when I darkened on the
underside it
looked better with the snow on top.
The idea was fine but the execution not so easy!
Enjoyed the
stalactites.... Those are the ones that come down I think!
Regards,
Geoff..

Phil Watts Notes from artist
Title - Snowmen singing Christmas carols.
Quite happy with this one although, as ever, it did
not turn out exactly as planned. Tried to lift out some
stone work on the front of the house this just looked
a mess and I but ended up putting darker colour on
instead. I forgot to mask out the carol sheets for the
snowmen so sin-upon-sins reverted to the dreaded
white paint. I think the foreground is too muddy - I
accidentally removed the masking from the snow drifts
too soon and lost these when painting the foreground.
I did put the shadows in this time but I feel they could
still be stronger. Regards Phil

Loving all the
whacky expressions on the
snowmen this month - so varied
yet in keeping with their
own situation.
Ivan - Quizzical Snowmen. Maybe
I'll just let you do the
dogs from now on.
Lynne - Happy Snowman and Non-plussed
Snowman - lots of humour and a
pretty little village down the
hill.
Phil - Intelligent Snowmen -
with really lovely delicate
greenery - and all that detailed
work on the windows
(one of my weaknesses - ask the
others!)
Roy - Engrossed Snowman smoking
Pipe - really like the tree to
the left of the church.
And thanks (not!) for reminding
me that I haven't done my
pictures within pictures
homework from the course!
Geoff - Naughty Snowmen and
Distressed Snowman... Really
like the leaded windows.
They do SPRAY masking fluid?!
Wow!! I've GOT to get me some of
that!!
Paul - Slightly Miffed Snowmen -
or are they just very pleased
with themselves?
You've been practising walls!!
Helen. x
Note.......When spraying masking
fluid using a toothbrush I always
water it down between 25% to 50% ish
and find that this gives
a finer spray effect when required.
Roger
Great paintings this month.
Happy new year to all. I wonder
how many greyhounds I can get in
this months painting.
Ivan.
Hi All,
I liked everyone's paintings, we
had to use more of our
imaginations than normal so was
a good test. Was not an easy
task so I think we can be
reasonable pleased with
ourselves. Good luck to all in
2012..

Hello all,
I am going to have to hang
up my brushes for a few
weeks, Pam and I have put
our house on the market and
I don't have time for
painting at the minute, plus
the room set aside for me
has been deemed the room for
storage, so although I might
get into the room, I may
never see the light of day
again. (Be quiet Helen)
I will stay in touch and
hopefully it wont be long
before things get back to
normal.
My best to you all.
Happy Painting Paul
p.s Helen
If you were stood outside
in the snow all day and all
night, you would loose your
smile too..!!!!
